Paul is a founding partner of Work-Effects Inc., a leadership development firm founded in 2001 based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company helps organizations accelerate the execution of strategy with technology, content and processes by offering culture and leadership assessment, change strategies, team development and executive coaching. Their clients have ranged from Fortune 500 companies, to privately held corporations, not-for-profit and governmental agencies.
Paul’s approach is assessment based, collaborative and pragmatic. He believes the real value occurs not during the consulting process but from what can be implemented afterwards. His orientation is low on theory and high on behavioral change at the individual, team and organizational level.
Paul is co-author of the The Conflict LensTM, (Wikipedia and Conflictlens.com) a conflict management and communication tool, available in nineteen languages, used by consultants and corporations nationally and internationally. The tool helps organizations with conflict management, creating trust, building high performance teams, customer satisfaction, quality improvement and productivity. The instrument is research based and Work Effects has a data base of over 10,000 actual workplace conflicts.
He was also the primary consultant on a team for an organization which won a finalist award from The Rochester Institute of Technology/USA Today Quality Cup for teamwork leading to quality improvement and cost reductions.
Since 1983, Paul has been on the adjunct faculty of the internationally acclaimed Creative for Creative Leadership (CCL) which has been ranked by the Financial Times in the top 10 in leadership education for the past 10 years. As a trainer and executive coach, he has worked with those as famous as Michael Dell, as powerful as Four-Star Generals, as unique as CIA operatives and top executives from many Fortune 500 and other international companies. He trains the Leadership at the Peak program which The Wall Street Journal noted to be the most effective senior leadership program of those evaluated.
He received a B.A in psychology from Whittier College in California and a M.S., and Ph.D. in Professional-Scientific Psychology from Utah State University.
On the personal side he enjoys a good meal with family and friends and outdoor recreation on land, water and snow. As an avid fly fisherman Paul enjoys being most anywhere in the mountains.
